AUCDI and openEHR
openEHR is is an open standard specification in health informatics that describes the management and storage, retrieval and exchange of health data in electronic health records. The openEHR specifications include information and service models for the electronic health record, demographics, clinical workflow and archetypes.

AUCDI leverages the openEHR archetypes which are computable definitions, or specifications, for single, discrete clinical concepts. Archetypes are the keystone of the openEHR architecture, allowing clinician and domain expert involvement in the design and collaboration of standardised clinical content specifications for electronic health records.
openEHR archetypes are one of the inputs into the development of AUCDI and is the starting point for most of the data groups included in AUCDI. Where clinical requirements are identified by the CDG for new data model requirements and to support increased clarity of the archetypes, these are submitted to openEHR as change requests to the openEHR archetypes for their consideration.
