Meet the Sparked Technical Co-Chairs: Landon Reilly

Meet Landon Reilly – Stream Manager at Best Practice Software, and AU Core Technical Design Group Co-Chair.

As a co-chair of the AU Core Technical Design Group, Landon’s role focuses on facilitating the development of HL7 FHIR AU Core standards and ensuring interoperability throughout the Australian healthcare system. Landon has a 15-year background in developing clinical healthcare systems and integrating electronic health records, and his work focuses on enhancing patient care through digital transformation using technologies like cloud computing, IoT, and AI. Landon is a valuable and knowledgeable addition to the Sparked team, and we are grateful for the opportunity to have him within the community.

We asked Landon about his involvement with Sparked, this is what he had to say!

🤔 What is your working background?

I have a 15-year background in developing clinical healthcare systems and integrating electronic health records. My work focuses on enhancing patient care through digital transformation using technologies like cloud computing, IoT, and AI.

🤔 How did you become involved with Sparked?

I became involved with Sparked through my work on IoT projects utilising HL7 FHIR integration at Best Practice Software. This involvement aligns with Best Practice Software’s goal of facilitating interoperability and enhancing healthcare delivery through consistent standards.

🤔 What is your role within Sparked?

As the Technical Design Group Co-Chair within Sparked, my role focuses on facilitating the development of HL7 FHIR AU Core standards and ensuring interoperability throughout the Australian healthcare ecosystem.

🤔 What does Sparked mean to you?

Sparked represents a unique opportunity to improve healthcare through AU Core Standards, fostering collaboration. It embodies a community dedicated to shared understanding.

🤔 What is something that you hope to achieve within the Sparked program?

I hope to achieve significant advancements in healthcare interoperability and data accuracy. By fostering a collaborative environment, Sparked aims to create iterative improvements that improve patient outcomes.

🤔 How is the Sparked program different from projects you’ve been involved in before?

The Sparked program stands out due to its collaborative environment and mission to create tangible impacts in healthcare. Its focus on community-driven involvement makes it unique.

🤔 What’s been your favourite part of working within the Sparked team?

My favourite part of working within the Sparked team is the dynamic collaboration and the opportunity to work with like-minded professionals passionate about healthcare innovation.

🤔 What would you tell someone wanting to learn more about the Sparked project?

I would encourage them to get involved. Join the Technical Design Group (TDG) meetings, raise tickets against the specifications, and actively contribute to discussions. Engaging with the Sparked offers a chance to collaborate with experts and will help standardise healthcare interoperability.

🤔 How will the goals and outcomes of the Sparked Program impact your field/industry/profession?

The goals and outcomes of the Sparked Program align with Best Practice Software’s objective to promote greater integration and collaboration with partners and vendors. By leveraging this alignment, Best Practice Software aims to improve data accuracy, streamline healthcare processes, and enhance patient outcomes through the use of AU Core healthcare standards.
